"Freedom" Sailboat 16" x 20" original beach art in 21" x 24" vintage, dark wood frame. Created from beach metal, wire, and plastic found on my walks along Lake Erie. The flag was done with acryllic paint. All metal sealed for safety. Cobalt blue, rusty brown, white, red, white and blue flag.
PRINTS ALSO AVAILABLE.
THE STORY...
As soon as I found the large metal "sail" on the left, I knew I was creating a sailboat. Over many weeks (and walks) I found the base for the boat, the mast, flag and wire. It was missing something, until I found a plastic shaped "sail" at right. Then I found the Perfect vintage frame. The whole process took a few months to come together.
This was donated to Festival of Trees 2015, a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio event held at LaMalfa each November. It will be under an artist themed tree as a "gift" along with art created by several other Cleveland artists. I'm proud to have been included in the event in this small way.
