BLACK BEACH GLASS: An artist friend living in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico sent me a haul of dark glass last year. I was fascinated by it when I saw it in her art. She walks the beaches in Puerto Rico as I do in Cleveland and she and her husband own a vacation house/bed and breakfast in Puerto Rico. From her research, and what she has learned about the glass in her region, this glass is very old, has tumbled in the Caribbean for a long time. The glass she sent me is deep forest green, black, and some looks to have deep brown/green tones. Depending on the light, these trees can look deep green to jet black. Though I only use materials found on my walks, I occasionally make an exception to work with these gorgeous dark colors.
